Carbon in Ash Monitoring

Plant control and fuel optimisation require accurate and continuous on-line monitoring facilities to the control room. Carbon-in-ash status is now widely acknowledged as a valuable addition to conventional CO and O2 gas measurements for purposes of boiler control and ash classification and streaming. The SEKAM® monitor automatically provides continuous accurate measurements of the Carbon content of the ash sampled from the boiler's flue gas ducts, which can be transmitted as a signal to a VDU or chart recorder in the control room. Variations in Carbon are accurately monitored, with the closest correlation being found between SEKAM® and laboratory sample analysis by the loss-on-ignition (LOI) method.
