Clyde Bergemann Power Group secures their largest materials handling contract worth over AUD $60 million Doncaster/UK, February 2008 Eraring Energy invests AUD $60 million in a state-of-the-art materials handling solution to ensure longevity and viability of its Eraring Power Station just north of Sydney. Clyde Bergemann Senior Thermal (CBST), Australia and Clyde Bergemann Materials Handling (CBMH), UK both companies of the Clyde Bergemann Power Group (CBPG), execute this order until November 2010. “This success is confirming our global market strategy with capable local companies embedded in our strong Group network”, Franz Bartels, President & CEO of the Clyde Bergemann Power Group stated. Awarded to CBST, with a high level of cooperation for engineering and execution support from CBMH, the Group’s materials handling centre of competence in the UK, the contract is the largest in the firm’s history and will create a state-of-the-art ash plant and a high concentration slurry discharge system for Eraring Energy, one of Australia’s biggest electricity generation companies. Eraring Energy required an environmentally friendly and cost effective solution to increase ash conveying capacities, improve overall reliability and availability at the plant and reduce water usage. The company was also looking for a system which would separate the fine and coarse ash from the fabric filter and thereby support their strategy for increased ash recycling in conjunction with the adjacent Fly Ash Australia installation supplying the cement and associatedindustries. The Eraring Power Station also has a limited amount of space in its ash pond and the existing lean slurry technology limits the station’s long term future. To meet these demands, CBHM specified a state-of-the-art solution employing their dense phase pneumatic conveying and high density slurry pumping technologies delivering high transport capacity combined with energy efficiency and environmental protection. Providing a full turnkey solution, CBHM will design, procure, install, operate and maintain the conveying system inclusive of ancillary equipment such as silos, compressors, buildings, roadways, pipelines, etc. Work starts within a matter of weeks and will be completed in November 2010 at which point Clyde Bergemann Senior Thermal will be responsible for operating and maintaining the plant for up to two years.
